What You Do At AMD Changes Everything

At AMD, we push the boundaries of what is possible. We believe in changing the world for the better by driving innovation in high-performance computing, graphics, and visualization technologies – building blocks for gaming, immersive platforms, and the data center.

Developing great technology takes more than talent: it takes amazing people who understand collaboration, respect, and who will go the “extra mile” to achieve unthinkable results. It takes people who have the passion and desire to disrupt the status quo, push boundaries, deliver innovation, and change the world. If you have this type of passion, we invite you to take a look at the opportunities available to come join our team.

Topic: Performance models and simulators for Coherence architectures

AMD’s Server CPU (EPYC) roadmap is targeting core counts and coherence upgrades that are pushing pre-silicon performance methodologies to take rapid strides forward. The goal of this project is to explore using publicly available performance simulators (such as Gem5, Tejas, ZSim, ….) to answer some of the major architecture and micro-architecture design questions that the industry is facing, and assess how effective they are compared to internal simulators. The choice of simulator(s) would depend on the candidate’s prior experiences (if any). The project would additionally involve SoC performance studies, and expanding the set of workloads that can be evaluated by generating the required traces.

The project would run as a Full Time Internship for 4 – 6 months (based on the student’s availability).

We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:

Current Masters / Ph.D. students in Computer Science / Electronics / Electrical Engineering
Knowledge of Computer Architecture through courses and projects is a must (experience with performance simulators is a plus)
Strong problem solving and communication skills

The candidate would get to work with experienced performance teams that are working through cutting-edge innovations both on the SoC architecture and performance simulation fronts.

A strong internship could lead to a Full Time Employment opportunity with our team.
